 In co-operation with Huaneng Power International, Inc., China National Nuclear Corp., China National Petroleum Corp., Gezhouba Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering Group Co., and Changjiang Institute of Survey, Planning, Design and Research Under Changjiang Water Resources Commission, the CTGPC initiated the establishment of The China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd. (as referred to the CYPC below), a limited-liability company. The CYPC’s business includes electric power production, management and investment, technological consultation for electric power production, overhaul and maintenance for hydropower works.
Established on November 4, 2002, the CYPC was listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange on November 18, 2003. The company finished its reform of non-tradable shares on August 2005. The CYPC’s warrants were listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange on May 2006. By June 30, 2006, the company’s general assets hit 40.133 billion yuan, its net assets stood at 21.998 billion yuan, and total capital stock reached 8.187 billion shares.
The company has the whole ownership of Gezhouba Power Station. It has acquired six generating sets that the Three Gorges Project has already put into production. At present, its total installed capacity has reached 6,977 MW. Meanwhile, the company was entrusted by CTGPC to manage other power generating sets that the Three Gorges Project has already put into production. The actual capacity under the company’s operation and management has reached 12,577 MW. The company sells its electricity mainly to central China (Hubei, Hunan, Henan, Jiangxi and Chongqing), east China (Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui) and Guangdong Province.
Currently, the company is China’s largest listed hydropower corporation. Depending on the construction of the Three Gorges Project and the development of the water resources at the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the company will continue to commit itself to generating the hydropower-dominated clean electricity. It will work hard to improve the generating capacity, striving to grow into a first-class international power station and build itself into a top-notch listed corporation. |
